A training package of three modules has been developed and twenty free places are offered to all multi-agencies Professionals (such as School Staff, Connexions, the Youth Service, and Health Professionals) in each of the Community & Learning Partnerships (C&LP), across Staffordshire. We are currently in our 3rd year of offering this training and have delivered training to over 3000 multi agency staff.
Following attendance at this training delegates then have the opportunity to attend the specialist modules. These are on bereavement, self harm and attachment. Delegates receive a comprehensive training pack and certificate of attendance.
All trainers are local practitioners and are both familiar with their networks and with local pathways of care. It was felt that this would have substantial additional benefits beyond the training content or material itself, as local practitioners would have an understanding of the health needs of their local area, awareness of local issues, and what was currently available in the local area both within the voluntary sector and local statutory services. The delegates attending would also benefit as they would bring an awareness of local issues and discuss current practice and ideas. Below are the results of evaluation so far;
The measures of confidence, amongst the delegates, in understanding and dealing with children's mental health difficulties (comparing pre and post course), are shown in the graph below.
