Staffordshire Children and Young People's Plan

The Children and Young People's Plan (CYPP) 2007-2010 details joint priorities for delivery for children's service providers in Staffordshire.

The 2007-2010 CYPP received praise from Ofsted during the 2007 Annual Performance Assessment (APA), which is an assessment of the quality of our services for the community) and requires us to submit a review/refresh of the CYPP.  The Plan was refreshed in the early part of 2008 and a report was produced for Cabinet, but the Plan has since been refreshed again for 2009 following a 3 month consultation, in readiness for the 2009 Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA), which will replace the APA.

Priorities in the plan have been informed by Staffordshire's Joint Strategic Needs Analysis (JSNA/SNA), which provides data that highlights issues and needs for children, young people and their families, and the views of Staffordshire's children and young people. The priorities also mirror those included in the Local Area Agreement (LAA) that relate to children and young people and their parents. The LAA is the agreement between Central Government and Staffordshire County Council and their local partners to improve local services.

Every children's service professional and parent has a role to play in the delivery of the plan, and by working together they can ensure the plan is a success and as a result, make a real and demonstrable improvement to the lives of Staffordshire's children and young people.

Regardless of whether you are a parent, or someone working with or on the behalf of children and young people it is important that you read the Plan and understand how you can contribute to the achievement of the priorities that are set out within it.

Much progress has been made over the last twelve months towards enabling children and young people living in Staffordshire to have their say over issues that affect them.  Active involvement has also ensured that several versions of the plan have been produced by children and young people, for children and young people.
