March Activity Blog
Well this month has seen the kick start of my "listening to parents" venture. If you managed to read February's Blog you will know I have been keen to talk and listen to parents about the issues that affect them and how to improve access to support.
Reaching the end of the month now we have managed to talk to 2,000 parents.

During the bus tour we spoke to;
- 428 parents
- We had 921 questionnaires completed
- We spoke to 82 parents during the Aimhigh events
- We have spoken to 90 parents at focus groups and deep dive events
- We have spoken to 100 young people about what they would like to see their parents have more information on/or support about

WOW ... that's a grand total of 1704 parents' voices in just 3 weeks! To me what that says is that parents do have a view and really want it to be heard.
So "What Next" I hear you ask"all good and well listening but what are you going to do with what we say". So this is what is going to be happening.
- First we need to analyse what you have told us and find out what the key messages are
- We will then write the County Children's Trust Parenting Strategy - which will be based on parents key message (in short - you as parents will write and decide the content of the strategy)
- The next step is getting the content of the Parenting Strategy approved - it needs to go to the County Children's Trust and Cabinet for approval.
- Once approved we will then need to start implementing it!
The time scales are as follows;
3 April - Feedback of analysis and key message from parents
April - Feedback to parents on consultation findings and next steps
20 April - Draft Strategy
April - Feedback to parents on Strategy content
22 April - Presentation to Children's Trust Executive group
30 April - Presentation to Children's Trust Board
20 May - Draft Strategy to VCSMT
15 June - DMT
15 July - Cabinet
End of July - Launch of local Parenting Strategy event
Next month I will put a downloadable copy of the consultation findings on my blog and for all those parents who have left their name and addresses or email addresses and requested a copy of the consultation results - you will be sent one in the post or via email.
So a BIG THANK YOU to everyone parents and professionals - all that have voiced their views and helped me with the consultation - and we look forward to the release of the draft Strategy
See you next month.
