July Activity Blog
Hi there all…..just a quick update this month, I've realised I ramble on a bit so have decided to go for the short and snappy style this month (plus I am on leave at the end of July so it is a short month for me this time)
A call for parents to come and work with me……..
One of the biggest findings from the large scale conversation with parents was that we need to improve the way we communicate with parents. There are a number of ways we are going to take this forward (see the parenting strategy and action plan for details)
www.staffordshirechildrenstrust.org.uk/commissionerparents/strategy
However I thought it would be a nice idea if a group of parents came and spent some time with me and we could produce a booklet 'how to improve communication with us - a parents guide' which could be sent out across agencies.
If you would be interested in helping me, please complete the reply slip below and return it to me.

Parents involved with interviews
We have managed to get eight parents involved with interviews for a post that will be helping to develop the parental engagement toolkit I spoke about last month. It is really great to have parents helping us make decisions…..thank you to those of you that have volunteered.

Parent engagement data base
As the months pass in my job we are doing more and more to try and engage parents in a whole host of activity and there are opportunities for parents to be involved arising all over the place.
To help us advertise these opportunities with parents we have created a distribution group of parents that we post, e-mail or send text alerts about opportunities they may wish to be involved in. some of these opportunities are paid, others just cover your expenses (like travel and childcare), some just ask for your time. The opportunities are quite diverse from being involved in interview panels, to being part of a task and finish group that is looking at a specific piece of work, to being involved in an interview or consultation about something specific.
