Parental Representation at Meetings
As part of my role I attend a number of meetings to represent parents views - 37 meetings in fact. To take this to the next level of parental engagement I have now withdrawn from some of these meetings and I am working with the chairs to consider more sustainable ways of having parents involved. This may include;
- Parent task groups
- Wider parent representation
- Getting the voice into meetings from other parent groups via a representative
I will keep you updated about which groups are doing what!!
Parent Champions Celebration
The 0-7 Partnership in Cannock and Rugeley operates a programme called Parent Champions. In Short parents are being trained to help support other parents access services. We have been watching the project with interest because when we spoke to parents they told us that the people they go to for help, advice or information is generally other parents. The Parent Champions scheme is a good way of helping parents get information.
On the 14 December 2009 I went to a celebratory event for the scheme to present the Parent Champions with their certificates for completing their
training.
Anyone interested in more information about the scheme please contact
