Information Sharing

The Staffordshire Children's trust have approved a Multi Agency Protocol for Data Sharing.

The purpose of the protocol is to facilitate the sharing of information between agencies, groups and individuals having responsibility for delivering services to children and young people in and for the county of Staffordshire.  It provides a high level framework and common standard for the partnership organisations to adopt.

Appendix E of the protocol provides a standard Information Exchange Agreement which can be used by member organisations to ensure a consistent approach to specific bulk or pre-planned data exchange arrangements.

Sharing case data or clinical information about a specific child or young person should always be based on professional judgement supported by the government guidance.   A range of guidance materials can be found on the government's Information Sharing website.  Local guidance from the Staffordshire Safeguarding Children Board is available under Guidance on Information Sharing on their procedures website

The Information Sharing - Guide for Practitioners on this page is a brief guide including the 7 Golden Rules of Information Sharing and a flowchart of key questions to consider for information sharing.
