Local Intelligence System Launched

Over the past year the Staffordshire Observatory has been developing a Local Intelligence System (LIS) on their website. The LIS is a web-based system which stores, analyses and presents national and local datasets at a variety of geographies.

The LIS allows quick and easy access to a wide range of statistical information from both national and local sources. The overall aim of the system is to provide a robust, comprehensive evidence base which informs decision making, commissioning and service delivery, leading to better outcomes for the residents of Staffordshire.

Currently there are over a 1,000 statistics and over 600 documents including research reports produced by the Observatory available on the system. These statistics and documents are searchable on the website which allows users to quickly find what they are looking for. Also the system allows users to interrogate statistics through the use of dynamic reports. This new system will also be central in delivering the information and intelligence from the Census 2011 which will start to become available in 2012.
