Research Reports

The importance of CAF for improving outcomes has been shown by research undertaken in Staffordshire between July 2008 and October 2008.  Questionnaires and interviews were used to find out the views of young people, parents, carers, practitioners and lead professionals on whether or not CAF had made a difference to their lives.

Key themes that emerge from this research include:

  1. Children, young people, parents and carers have been supported quicker and earlier through the use of CAF
  2. Family support provided through the use of CAF led to better relationships within family and with agencies
  3. The Team Around the Child (TAC) approach has facilitated improvements for the child, young person, parent and carer
  4. Multi agency working and communication improved through the use of CAF
  5. Practitioners valued support from the CAF team
  6. CAF has helped young people to feel more confident and happier.
  7. Greater sensitivity is sometimes needed in CAF and TAC process towards family to prevent them from disengaging from the process
