Children & Young People's Plan Refresh 2008 - Update

We have now collated all responses and have produced a summary report.

Thanks is given to all those who took the time to respond to the consultation of the refreshed Children & Young Peoples Plan, your feedback is extremely valuable in ensuring that our revised priorities will have a positive impact on children and young people in Staffordshire.

The feedback was on the whole extremely positive, with the majority agreeing with the revised priorities.

There were a number of themes that were highlighted as a result of the consultation, which were:
·       Common Assessment Framework
·       Children  from Black and Ethnic Minority Backgrounds
·       Housing Needs
·       Mental Health Issues

All of the feedback around these issues has been taken into consideration and the Children and Young Peoples Plan has been amended accordingly.

The aim of the refresh of the Children and Young People was to highlight progress and revise our priorities, in line with the Local Area Agreement and the needs of children and young people in Staffordshire, as identified within the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.  Identified priorities within the Plan are then supported by other plans and strategies.

The eight districts of Staffordshire also have there own Children & Young People's Plan.  These Plans incorporate the County priorities that are pertinent to the specific area and additional local priorities for children young people and their families.  These plans contain local delivery plans and ensure that action is focused on needs, and that outcomes for local children and young people are monitored.

The refreshed priorities highlighted as projects within the Children's Trust Management block will now be performance managed by the Children Lifelong Learning's Project Office, to avoid duplication in reporting.  The refreshed priorities within the rest of the Plan will continue to be performance managed as usual on a quarterly basis.  Performance reports can be found with the Children and Young Peoples Plan via the Children's Trust Website.

The final refreshed Children & Young Peoples Plan will now be communicated to children, young people and families, schools, members, partners and stakeholders.
